FREEDOM FROM THE CONSTRICTION OF A BILLABLE DIAGNOSIS:  You may have a symptom (eg anxiety) but don't meet the full criteria for the diagnosis. I can help you with the symptoms regardless of whether you meet the criteria. It also means we can work on things that insurance companies don't reimburse for at all, like struggles with meaning and purpose in life or  problems in a relationship.  â€‹

AVOID A DIAGNOSIS BEING ON THE RECORD:  This information can sometimes be used against you. Despite HIPAA, its been known to happen. Seeking the help you need should never be punished. ​

Let Me Introduce Myself

I have a Masters in Psychology and a Masters in Social Work, and have been licensed as a clinical social worker (LCSW) for 30+ years in Missouri, so I have not only the training but lots of experience, especially developing expertise in treating anxiety, depression and trauma. I have learned a lot of strategies clients can use to make life better.

​

My psychology training was from a Systems perspective; each of us individually is a system (bio-psycho-social-spiritual) that lives in a web of other systems, whether they be family, coworkers, or church/synagogue/mosque or other spiritual group. There are many entrances into those systems to produce change. Social work was first done in community systems, which influences the social work training. There are more LCSWs who provide therapy than psychologist or LPCs. 

 

 This perspective has led me to become a Certified Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider, a Mindfulness-Informed Professional and to get certified in Comprehensive Energy Psychology, which I have found to be very helpful in working with people who have experienced trauma. I also use pranayama strategies with sleep and a particular type of meditation that literally rewires you brain for increased emotional management and better focus.
